The Sprinkler thingy

G-man loves this little paddle pool thing we got that has all these little water jets on it.  Absolutely hilarious to see him light up when he gets hit with the water.

Bachelor Weekend

With Daph away for the weekend, it was boys only.  We had a great time! Dad is just too tired to type in all the things we did.  Pics tell the storey.

Gav working it out in the Kitchen

With Gav starting to get more mobile, we are finding it HILARIOUS to chase him around the house.  We don’t have the perfect video yet of the Frankenstein giggling jogger yet, but we will get it.  Here are some samples of what its like so far.  It gets better.

Update late Wed night.  MSN Video is failing miserably at publishing these small videos.  I will try and upload them again tomorrow……….Some pics to buy some time……..

Father’s Day, the Chase, and Big G learns to run (sort of)

June 22, 2009 Leave a comment

We had father’s day #2 yesterday.  It was awesome.  Mom and G  sent a few specialty beers dad’s way, as well as a great book on the Cuban Missile crisis, (reading for France!) and Big G got dad some books for himself.  A hilarious gift, and they are lovely books, but they are definitely Gav reading material!

We had a great breakfast, and then dad took G for a car wash so mom could decompress.  Dad had a massage setup but his ProClub masseuse didn’t show up, so that was a bit of a let down.  We had a great walk in the afternoon in Kirkland with some frozen yoghurt, and then mom made dad’s fav meal for dinner, Chicken Parm!

Gav is definitely getting more comfortable on his feet.  He is sort of running around the house, and it is GREAT to chase him but he is still checking gravity every now and then.  HE would also probably run a little better if he didnt hold his arms our like Frankenstein, and laugh so hard.  Concentrate son!

A great day, thanks mom.  🙂

Pool Time, BBQ and shopping…….

We caught some pool time while mom had a workout today.  Then we were off to the Bright Horizons BBQ Party, where G investigated the fountains, and then some shopping before heading home……..

Boxcercise time!

As dad was getting ready for hockey and mom was getting set for her work out, Gav decided it was time for him to lace up the gloves and work_it_out.

Too bad he was laughing too hard to actually lay in the work, but the intent was clearly there.

And the helmet, he wears it EVERYWHERE.  I have snuck in some pics of him on the Kettler, clearly you see he doesn’t enjoy it at all :).  For the ones who don’t know, Kettler is that trike he is on, its this German company that has made the same bike for like 50 years, never changed it.  G-man needs an AM ride every_day before off to school, and likes to cap off the evening with a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood before bedtime, or before dinner is served, or both.  No no, we love it, really, we can’t get enough of pushing him around in circles, really, its fine.  We need the exercise.  As soon as possible I’ll pull off the foot deck which will expose the German engineered pedal system complete with free wheel system, so the little guy can get the miles in himself.

Right back to work, datasheets to write.

Rocking it at the BH……

So dad got the drop off this AM at Bright Horizons, which meant a nice ease into the day and a little more time with the G-Man.  We hung out at home for a bit, had some breakfast, took a few laps around the street on the Kettler, watched the irrigation system (someone was FASCINATED with all the water jets).  Then we piled in the rig, both of us in the driver seat (literally), and headed off to the big city.

We got to Bright Horizons and played a little ‘chase’ and ‘hide-n-seek’ in the parking lot, and inside.  Then we got down to business.  There was a rubber elephant to tackle!  G-man and his little wingman Brodie got down to business on these things – it was chaos.  Even the other little ones who were standing there watching them were shouting as these 2 cowboys rode their bulls like it was the NRA (National Rodeo Association) championships!  All was good till G rolled off the tail and bonked the little brunette, but I think that was planned 🙂

I also got to witness G walking around with his elephant.  Apparently he does this all day.  Just drags the elephant everywhere.  Pics below.

Luckily, breakfast part 2 was being served, so they all t-d up at the troughsorrytable to chow down.  Note the little pictures at their seats, thats their reserved spot at the table :).  That’s when I made my break for it.  I got a casual bye and a hand wave as little Bagel stuffing Gaver basically said ‘get outta here, I’ve got work to do’…………

Ok, Bing is cool. It’s official

So I am deep in writing a pile of technical content – and I am hunting stuff on the web.  I used to use the G-word, but I am now converted.  Bing.com (or Live.com as you may know it) is pretty cool.

For example, when you search, it finds the stuff you really need.  In my case, it was some deep Technet Technical Documentation Library writing, not normally the highest hitting in a search result.  On Bing today, the doc link I needed was the top hit.  I can honestly say that’s a first for me.

Once you see your search results, you can hover above a result, and a fly out right nav pops to show you a level lower in detail about the site.  On your left nav, there is a search breadcrumb, showing your last search results, related searches etc.   Then there is that homepage.  It dropped first with Live.com, but it continues with Bing.  The images are gorgeous.  Anyways, not a normal blog post for us, as there are no G-man pics, but I thought it would be worth sharing how cool it is.

The Commute to work, and Big G suits up for Game 7….

June 12, 2009 Leave a comment

Gaver was so excited today when he woke up he was shouting ‘the Pens will win the cup tonight!  the Pens will win the cup tonight!  Go go game 7!!!!!!’  He had to run downstairs and suit up in his gear!

Ok he didn’t really say that, it was more like “..ggbbbuutt gabble gabble brrt brrt babba labba labba”

Oh, and that’s the ride to work – not a bad commute.  3 days on the bike this week, thats 84 miles not in a car……… FEELING GREEN!

Cottage Follow up, and Kettler Trike Time! :)

June 7, 2009 Leave a comment

Well I thought I had posted this blog, I had a pile more photos to get up on the site and I forgot to get ‘em up there.  So, better late than ever, here are some more pics of the awesome weekend we had at 7Trees. Grand Pere, El, Jen, Alex and Mark all were present for a perfect weather weekend.  Not a lot accomplished, just lots of G/A time, hanging with the boys.  We caught a weekend where there was a REALLY low tide, and as a result, we got to go for a walk out probably farther on the coast line than any of us have ever been.  Of course G was leading the way, he was just hooked on running in the sand, and wanted to wander right into the Ocean like a fearless little Captain Highliner!

Note Jen tasting the ‘somewhat incorrectly made’ Moscow Mule, renamed after incorrect ingredients as ‘Abbey’s A55’…..

We just had a nice weekend in Bothell, we didn’t get up to a lot, but, definitely enjoyed the weather.  We caught the Pro Club for some weekend swimming, for some Gav laps.

Today we had the Hutton clan over for a post boys’ bike ride brunch, and had amazing Hutton Creme Brulee French Toast.  Lovely AM after a brilliant ride by Mr Cranna and Mr Cappy through Carnation.

Then, mom and dad gave in, and got G-man a new trike.  The fella is hooked LARGE on bikes, and as soon as we wandered into the store, he was all over the Kettler.  So, it came home with us, and he is in LOVE with it.  It was great fun to end the weekend with him wizzing around on it.  We even got a little Skype chat in with Grandma Patty and Granddad Ken in Ontario – they had to see the bike……..Just a great finish to the weekend, well, until he pooped in the tub before bed………….No, not he was pooped in the tub, he ‘pooped’ in the tub……. talk about going speechless in seconds……..

Later………
