Summer?

June 24, 2008 Leave a comment

Summer may finally have arrived. It is a gorgeous sunny day here. So sunny that on today’s walk we had to get Gav’s sun shade out for his stroller. Halfway through the walk Daph discovered it was actually the mosquito netting cover that also came with the stroller. A necessity in these climes for sure… Anyway, it didn’t completely ward off the sun but no malaria for Gav!

Big G has recently become a bit rubbish at napping and seems to have developed an irrational fear of his crib. Might have something to do with the large zebra looming over it. Anyway, post-walk we tried a nap in his little chair. Seems to have done the trick. For now. Now if we could just get him to sleep through the night and take a bottle…

Ted Rowe, one of Jeff’s fraternity brothers is in town and coming by for dinner (and a few rye n gingers) tonight. Depending on how many will determine the photographic evidence on the blog. Stay tuned…

Webcam and Waffles

Well Jeff got back from Orlando, and it appears that the team survived the trip, so all good news on the home front.  Its been a pretty average weekend, nothing massive for plans.  Gaver is toying with the whole bottle thing, but he has made some major steps on the personality front.  He told a hilarious joke the other day but Dad cannot remember the punchline…….

If the weather holds we might head for a picnic today with the Cranna trio.  We are looking forward to hitting Seventrees on the holiday, July1, or err, July 4th.  Today, sunday we fired up the webcam for the Ontario Grandparents, and then followed up with a video call to Grandma El.  Anywho, waffles this AM were a treat , so was talking to everyone…………..

Happy Father’s Day

Hope all you dads out there had a great Father’s Day. Ours started with smoothies and cinnamon buns on the deck. Then in honor (honour for our Canadian readers) of his day, Jeff mowed the lawn and washed both the cars.  The weather was great so Gav decided to pull out his shorts. And socks… All he needs is some sandals to complete the look.

Gav loves his head rubbed. We’re happy to oblige to help with the male pattern baldness he has suddenly developed. Prize to the reader who can identify the stuffed animal. We think it might be a seal. Whatever it is, it keeps him cheery.

Big G also made an important discovery. No not awareness of his own hands and the ability to put them in his mouth. Rather, the continued lack of awareness of them yet the uncanny ability to put them in mom’s mouth. yummy!

Later in the day mom went to the gym and dad went to hockey. Not at the same time, obviously. Dinner was an appie of guac (avocados were on sale at Safeway) and chicken parm. Two of Jeff’s favs.  All in all a good day…

Home Alone

Jeff headed off to TechEd in Orlando this week leaving Daph and Gav to fend for themselves.

Wednesday was the weekly baby class at Evergreen so Gav had to look sharp. He tried on his 3-6 month overalls from Aunty Jenny and they fit! Well, they’re a bit baggy but that’s the style, init? Following the class they met up with Lisa and Isy at Bel Square. Perfect “outing” for a rainy day. Luckily barely a dent was made on the credit card. Yesterday they hooked up again with the Cranna’s for lunch at Starbucks and a walk at Juanita Bay. Didn’t see any turtles but there was a huge osprey. Last night the Hutton’s took pity on Daph and Gav and had them over for yummy Mexican wraps. Gav wasn’t exactly on his best behavior so an early departure was made. His head spun 360 degrees for a few hours then after a dose of the hard stuff (Gripe Water not moonshine) he crashed for 5 hours… 🙂

Daph gave Gav his first solo bath this morning. He didn’t get the usual spa treatment of four hand scalp massage, warm towel, etc. but he lived to tell the tale. The rain held off long enough for a walk on the BG trail in Bothell.

Jeff arrives back late tonight/early this morning….. hurray!!!!

Weekend Warrior………

Well dont get me wrong, it was a lot of fun, but can anyone spell g-r-o-w-t-h s-p-u-r-t ?  Wow, this guy eats a LOT, I think I know how my parents felt!

We had a pretty home-based weekend, the weather was pretty poor so we hung at the house and were entertained by Gav.  Jeff cut the grass, in the rain, again.  We had brunch with the Crannas Sunday but other than that, the time just flew past.  Luckily the camera was not far away……..

Gav goes to work, buys mom and dad lunch, and chills on the couch

So a big day for a big guy, today Daph brought Gav to the office to meet Jeff for lunch.  He helped build some virtual machines, reviewed a whitepaper, and even cleaned up some slide decks.  All in all his visit was very useful.

Gav certainly was tired  when he got home from the long day at the office, just check out him passing the sleeper test.

No plans for our weekend except try and cut the grass, plant some veggies, and of course keep the big one out of trouble………………. more to come.

Good Luck, Mr Smiley and Boot Camp pushups……..

You know how they say it’s good luck if a bird poops on you? Well, Daphne would like to think that the same holds true with baby vomit. And as this pic illustrates perhaps Gav’s shared double the luck… Err, are we having fun yet?

The big guy has learned to smile, and react to mom and dad.  It also might be some Far Side comic, where he is like 25yrs older than us and is playing us like puppets on a string. ……….
